Robert Plante is consultant for BMW LLC of North America overseeing content creation, fixture design, software development and network management for BMW’s dealer kiosks as well as for their retail launch and event marketing kiosks. He personally designed BMW’s innovative wireless kiosk and pioneered the idea of using cell phone technology to wirelessly
connect those kiosks.

At POPAI’s 2008 Global Shop in Chicago -- the U.S.’s largest marketing-at-retail trade show -- BMW of North America was awarded a gold Outstanding Merchandising Award (OMA) for “Best Permanent Display” in recognition of its newest interactive dealer kiosk program. The OMAs are one of the most prestigious and sought-after awards in the U.S. marketing-at-retail industry. The new U.S. BMW dealer kiosk program uses 46 inch Sony Bravia screens connected via high speed T1 lines and is a combination of digital signage and interactive content.
His newest award-winning kiosk features a sleek BMW-like design, a 46” Sony Bravia LCD screen with a wireless keyboard and over 3 hours of interactive content, including: more than one-hundred short high definition videos and graphic animations about every aspect of BMW (exciting footage of the new M3 and X6, competitive comparisons, European delivery, night vision, dynamic stability control, innovative BMW technology); and information about safety, accessories, the BMW Golf Championship, upcoming events and much more.
Prior to joining BMW Mr. Plante worked at Netkey, a kiosk software company, in various executive and creative positions. Earlier he was the president and senior creative executive at Interactive Sales Systems, a pioneer in interactive kiosks where he oversaw projects for Motorola, Whirlpool, Verizon, BMW and others.
Before he became involved in the kiosk world Mr. Plante had his own video production company with clients primarily in the magazine publishing business. Earlier in his career he was Creative Director at Sport Illustrated magazine, held various creative and management positions at Time, Fortune and other magazines, worked in advertising as an account executive, copywriter, and as a cameraman for NBC.
